I've been searching for a new chocolate cake recipe lately. Even though everyone liked my old one, it wasn't very sturdy when it came to stacking or covering with fondant since it was so moist. Plus it wasn't chocolatey enough for my tastes. So I spent a few weeks trying different recipes, some from scratch and some from doctoring up cake mixes. Even though I found some great scratch cake recipes, I didn't like their texture and they weren't quite what I was looking for. So I took my old recipe and added what ever sounded good. I think it's a keeper. It was moist but sturdy enough to hold fondant and the chocolate flavor was more pronounced than a cake mix but not as rich as a scratch cake, which is what I was aiming for. I've replaced the old recipe with the new one on my Cakes Recipe page. Hopefully it doesn't cause an outrage but if you'd like the old recipe posted again just let me know and I'll throw it back in there.
You can find the new recipe here as well as a cream cheese icing recipe I posted.
